Punta Ala Marina
Punta Ala Marina lies just N of the headland of the same name, at the SE end of the Gulf of Follonica on the Tuscan coast of Italy. It provides a total of 893 berths for yachts up to 32 metres on 13 pontoons and associated quays. The marina lies just 15 miles due E of the island of Elba and is a regular stopping-off point for yachts arriving at the Italian coast from the island.

The marina entrance is situated half a mile N of the rock-strewn promontory of Punta Ala at the SE end of the Gulf of Follonica. The marina is enclosed by a long breakwater extending NE from the coast. The entrance is oriented ENE. In the approach from N, the shallow bank of Secca del Barbiere 200 metres NNE of the marina entrance is marked with a W cardinal marker. In the approach from S, a yacht should pass half a mile off Punta Ala, in the channel between the dangerous reefs and the islet of Sparviero, where the depths are 10 metres or more. Depths in the marina entrance channel are 5.0 metres and in the harbour from 2.0 – 5.0 metres. The marina provides good shelter from all directions. The Via Aurelia (E80) runs 28 km E of Punta Ala. The SP 158, eight kilometers E of the marina, links to the E80 via Follonica to the N and via the SP3 at the town of Grosseto.
